Overview of The School Enterprise Challenge

The School Enterprise Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for all the schools because it's easy for all primary and secondary teachers to use, even if they don't know much about business, as it gives clear step-by-step guidance.The programme has three steps.

If you are a school headmaster, talk to your teachers about the programme and start planning which teachers could lead a group of students. If you are a teacher, speak to your school administration and fellow teachers to decide who can join you. If you are a parent or student, talk to your school administration about the programme and all the benefits of participating!

To learn more about the challenge and what the programme entails, we have provided a useful guide below.

Step Two: Business Plan

Now it's time to plan the business! Students will talk to potential customers, look at other businesses, and think about how to make their business successful. They will plan how to market their business and manage the money. This step helps students develop skills like communication, observation, marketing and financial planning. Our team will read and provide personalised feedback on every business plan to help guide schools in the launch and implementation of their business

This step usually takes about 20-25 hours.

Step Three: Run The Business

This is the last and most exciting step! Students put their plans into action and start selling their product or service to real customers. They make real money! This step takes about 2-3 months because the students will sell their products or services for at least 2 months. It's an important step because they will learn a lot from talking to customers and making changes to their business. This helps them develop skills like problem-solving, customer service, and adaptability.

When a business team finishes all three steps, the school can choose what to do next. They can start the programme again with the same students or add new students to the team to expand the business. They can also start a new business with different students.

Prizes

As part of your participation in the School Enterprise Challenge, you will be able to participate in competitions throughout the year. These range from regular mini-competitions to annual competitions such as Best Business Idea, Best Business Plan, and Best Business Implementation. We have various awards and prizes for competition winners, which include features and cash prizes, which you can use to reinvest in your business and school.
